Road Food

I love travel shows. I especially love when the host visits different restaurants and talks about the amazing food that a place has to offer. I received an amazing book that does just that. Road Food by Jane & Michael Stern lists restaurants from all across the United States.

The book is broken up in sections by the different areas of the country and the states that are within those regions. Within the state listings the restaurants are listed with basic information such as which meals they serve and how expensive the meal may be. The authors have also listed which restaurants are loved by the locals and stay open late. With each restaurant listing is a little information about the history of the restaurant and the food that they are known for making.

I was very excited to find a restaurant listed from a small town near where I grew up. That however was the only restaurant that I have visited out of the entire book so I am excited to use this as a guide for future trips.

If you are a food junkie or just looking to check out a new restaurant, I would highly recommend this book. You can find out more about the book and the authors here and here.

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.

Driftwood Bay

Driftwood Bay by Irene Hannon is a sweet and inspirational story. This is part of the Hope Harbor series but is the first one that I have read. I feel that this makes a good stand alone book but found myself becoming curious about the side characters in the story and would love to read the others in the series. Jeannette has created a new life for herself in the town of Hope Harbor. She owns a lavender farm and tea shop and spends most of her time alone. Her quiet world is shaken up when Logan moves in next door. Not only does he have a little girl, but also a trouble making dog that force their worlds to collide. Alongside the story of Jeannette and Logan is a beautiful and heartbreaking story of a family that has escaped persecution in Syria. Everyone in the story has their own heartbreak, but they all come together to create a new life and new relationships. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books from Irene Hannon.

Zen Camera

Photography is one of my hobbies so I always jump at the chance to check out new books on the topic. Zen Camera: Creative Awakening With a Daily Practice in Photograph y by David Ulrich uses Zen principles to teach people how to take better photographs. It also teaches an important lesson in today's busy world which is to slow down and take in our surroundings.  Zen Camera is split into six different lessons. My favorite part of these lessons is that at the end of each one is a tip that can be applied or something that the reader should go out and try. I have been interested in photography for quite a while and have read many books on the topic but I felt that this book had a fresh approach to photography.  Zen Camera is good for anyone starting out and using the camera on their phone or for more advanced photographers that are looking for inspiration. The book is full of gorgeous images and practical advice.  I received this book from Blogging for Books for this ...

February 2017 Bookish Box Review

I received my February Bookish Box today! The theme this month was galentines day so the box focused on literary friendships. Inside the box were best book friend pins from Jar of Buttons. A mug with a quote from the Raven cycle series from Drop & Give Me Nerdy. A really cute Fangirl nerd necklace from Appraising Pages.  Also, a bookmark with an Anne of Green Gables quote from Lexy Olivia . There has been a bookmark in every box I have received from this shop and they are all beautiful!  My favorite item in the box was the shirt with the quote from The Perks of Being a Wallflower from Appraising Pages. This was my favorite book in high school and I am psyched to have it on a shirt. I will wear it proudly with my nerdy necklace. I really loved all of the items this month. It all fit very well with the theme and included items from some of my favorite books. I have loved all of the boxes that I have received and have yet to be disappointed. The Marc...
