Goodreads and a Review

Another online book community that I love is Goodreads. Goodreads is a great site to use for following your favorite authors. You can follow an author and be alerted when they have a new book coming out. I love this because it can be so hard to remember when an author is releasing a new book and I always love to get them as soon as possible. You can also follow friends on Goodreads and find out which books they are enjoying and add those books to your to be read list. Goodreads also has giveaways every day. Many of these have really good odds and provide a wonderful opportunity to discover a new author.

A book that I won recently from a Goodreads giveaway is Your Soul is a River by Nikita Gill. This is a beautiful collection of poetry. A lot of it deals with heartache and grief but I found most of the poems to be very hopeful and uplifting. In the last few days I have found myself picking it up to read different poems over and over again. There are not many places where this book is carried but you can buy a copy here. The cover alone would have made me want to pick up this book but I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read this.

Driftwood Bay

Driftwood Bay by Irene Hannon is a sweet and inspirational story. This is part of the Hope Harbor series but is the first one that I have read. I feel that this makes a good stand alone book but found myself becoming curious about the side characters in the story and would love to read the others in the series. Jeannette has created a new life for herself in the town of Hope Harbor. She owns a lavender farm and tea shop and spends most of her time alone. Her quiet world is shaken up when Logan moves in next door. Not only does he have a little girl, but also a trouble making dog that force their worlds to collide. Alongside the story of Jeannette and Logan is a beautiful and heartbreaking story of a family that has escaped persecution in Syria. Everyone in the story has their own heartbreak, but they all come together to create a new life and new relationships. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books from Irene Hannon.

February 2017 Bookish Box Review

I received my February Bookish Box today! The theme this month was galentines day so the box focused on literary friendships. Inside the box were best book friend pins from Jar of Buttons. A mug with a quote from the Raven cycle series from Drop & Give Me Nerdy. A really cute Fangirl nerd necklace from Appraising Pages.  Also, a bookmark with an Anne of Green Gables quote from Lexy Olivia . There has been a bookmark in every box I have received from this shop and they are all beautiful!  My favorite item in the box was the shirt with the quote from The Perks of Being a Wallflower from Appraising Pages. This was my favorite book in high school and I am psyched to have it on a shirt. I will wear it proudly with my nerdy necklace. I really loved all of the items this month. It all fit very well with the theme and included items from some of my favorite books. I have loved all of the boxes that I have received and have yet to be disappointed. The Marc...

The New American Heart Association Cookbook

I love cookbooks! There is something that is just so wonderful about reading pages and pages of yummy inspiration. I received a copy of The New American Heart Association Cookbook . This is the 9th edition and it was just released last month. The cookbook has a helpful section in the beginning dedicated to healthy eating. There are a lot of great tips as to the foods that we should be incorporating more of in our diets and those that we should be avoiding. After this section the book is separated into the normal cookbook sections by dish. With my personal diet it can be difficult to find a cookbook that has recipes that I would actually be able to eat. My favorite part about this book is that not only are all of the recipes healthy, but there is a huge section devoted to vegetarian dishes. This can be rare to find with most cookbooks but this is full of wonderful options. The only downside of this book that I found is that there are no pictures of recipes other than those on the cove...
