This year, I am not only pushing myself to read more but to try out a lot of new authors. I just finished Now That You Mention It by Kristan Higgins. She is such a big author that I am not sure how I am only now getting to reading one of her books but I am glad that I did. I loved her writing style and the story as well.
Now That You Mention It centers around Nora who is a doctor in Boston. Nora grew up on a small island but had a difficult time in high school and left rather abruptly to move on and make changes in her life. She believed that her life in Boston was perfect but after being hit by a van, she begins to question if she is truly happy. Moving back to the island where she grew up to heal, Nora works at confronting everything that she ran away from. She also works at healing some old relationships and creating new ones as well.
I have to say that my favorite part about the character of Nora is that she is a huge Harry Potter fan. There are references sprinkled throughout the book and I loved it! I also felt that this story hit home with me not only with the struggles in high school but with the talk of mental illness in the family as well. This was a great book for getting started in the world of Kristan Higgins and I cannot wait to check out more!
