Wait For Me

Wait For Me by Susan May Warren is the 6th book in her Montana Rescue series. This is however the first one that I have read. While I felt that this book could be read on its own, I would not recommend doing so. The couple that is the main focus of this novel, Pete and Jess, have had multiple story lines in the other books. There is quite a bit of recap that happens but I feel that it would be easier to follow along with if I had started with the beginning of the series.

With that said, I really enjoyed this book. It was full of adventure and romance. The situations that these couples are put in is crazy but that meant that I didn't want to put it down. Jess was an EMT for a while but had to return to her original life as a socialite to take care of family business. Pete is a SAR incident commander and lives a life that puts him in persistent danger. When the couple are reunited for a second chance, or perhaps 4th chance, they have the opportunity to finally work things out. However, as Jess and two other people are kidnapped, it seems that Jess and Pete may never get the opportunity to make things right.

This was a fun and fast paced book. I would like to read the whole series in order to better get to know the characters but I have a feeling that I would enjoy the other five books just as much.

I received a copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my honest review.

Driftwood Bay

Driftwood Bay by Irene Hannon is a sweet and inspirational story. This is part of the Hope Harbor series but is the first one that I have read. I feel that this makes a good stand alone book but found myself becoming curious about the side characters in the story and would love to read the others in the series. Jeannette has created a new life for herself in the town of Hope Harbor. She owns a lavender farm and tea shop and spends most of her time alone. Her quiet world is shaken up when Logan moves in next door. Not only does he have a little girl, but also a trouble making dog that force their worlds to collide. Alongside the story of Jeannette and Logan is a beautiful and heartbreaking story of a family that has escaped persecution in Syria. Everyone in the story has their own heartbreak, but they all come together to create a new life and new relationships. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books from Irene Hannon.

936 Pennies

I have read a lot of parenting books since my oldest son was born. While some offer good advice, others can make this parenting thing even more confusing with conflicting information. I found 936 Pennies: Discovering the Joy of Intentional Parenting by Eryn Lynum to be very uplifting.  I had heard of the concept of having a jar of 936 pennies to signify the weeks that it takes to raise a child until they are 18 but this is a concept that I had not thought about in a long time. I don't know if I could go through the actual act of removing a penny from a jar each week but I like the idea of having a reminder that childhood is short. I think this would help remind me to more intentional in my own parenting. What I really loved about this book is that it is honest. Parenting is hard. Sometimes we make bad decisions but what is great is that this book has advice on how to slow down and try to be more intentional in our words and actions. I know that I have had many moments wher

New Every Day

New Every Day: Navigating Alzheimer's with Grace and Compassion by Dave Meurer is about the complexities that are faced in caring for and dealing with an individual with Alzheimer's. I do not have hands on experience with this illness but have heard stories from friends that are dealing with family members that are affected. This is a heartbreaking illness that can be very difficult for the caregiver to manage. I loved that the author gave this book a conversational tone and did not organize this into different areas. There are stories that are personable, funny and sad. There are also tips for caregivers on the different issues that they may face such as dealing with stress of repeated questions or handling insurance issues. I think this book would be great for anyone that is dealing with a friend or family member that has Alzheimer's or anyone that would like to know more about this illness.
